Riding the Next Wave: Second Surfcamp Edition
From 3 to 11 May 2025, the second TYPO3 Surfcamp brought young professionals to Fuerteventura for a week of collaboration, learning, and community. With participants from development, design, and marketing, the Surfcamp focused on hands-on contributions to TYPO3 and meaningful exchange across disciplines.
After the success of last year’s premiere, this year’s edition built on that strong foundation - bringing together fresh perspectives, strong collaboration, and a shared sense of purpose: to support and empower the next generation of TYPO3 contributors. What started in 2024 as a bold new format is already becoming a valued part of TYPO3’s community-building efforts.

Outcomes: From Bigfeet to Bigfoot
Long before many of this year’s participants had written their first lines of code, or even knew what TYPO3 was, a project called FC Bigfeet quietly began its journey. What started back then has now found new life as FC Bigfoot, carried forward by a new generation with fresh ideas and renewed energy.
At TYPO3 Surfcamp 2025 seven teams tackled real challenges under the FC Bigfoot banner. Each group brought their own skills, perspectives, and energy to the table, delivering hands-on results:
- A restaurant toolbox featuring table reservations, digital menus, and flexible opening hours
- WaveCart – a shop extension with product variants, discount code functionality, easy checkout, and customer invoicing
- A clickable API data aggregation tool that makes working with external data sources much easier
- Surfey – a backend survey module for creating and managing surveys with minimal technical effort
- MemSy, an all-in-one member management system
- An event management extension supporting recurring events and time zone handling
- A dedicated marketing team, which developed industry-specific pitch decks (in English and German) for TYPO3 agencies and contributed strategic market research for untapped sectors
And also: surfing and community, because it is not just about catching waves, but showing up, learning by doing, and lifting each other up.
